Sakonnet is a secret garden in Little Compton RI, embedded within a native coastal fields landscape. At the diminutive scale of a cottage garden, it is conceived as an intimate place to explore, with multiple paths leading one onward to unexpected experiences.

Its labyrinth of spaces are carved organically out of the original thicket. Each outdoor room reflects the owner’s ongoing experiments with lighting, space, color mixing, collecting and growing wonderful plants. A one-acre Pollinator Plus garden was added several years ago to support insect populations.

The garden tour will be followed by lunch at White's of Westport.

This 3-day trip starts with the New York Botanical Garden on the first day. The second day includes tours of Springwood, FDR’s boyhood home, the grounds of Val-kill, Eleanor Roosevelt’s cozy home, and the FDR Museum & Library, as well as the Vanderbilt Mansion. The evening takes us to the Culinary Institute of America for a tasting exercise and dinner.
The trip concludes with a tour of Kykuit, home to four generations of the Rockefeller family before travelling home.
